A Life Changed, A Family Changed
This is a story from the wife of one of our heroes. It's her story...and it's our story:
Two years ago I felt I was losing my husband, before he was invited to attend a event with the Potomac Highlands Wounded Warriors, his entire life evolved around alcohol, he would set in the house all day and drink.
He had no interest in doing anything. When we would go somewhere, he had to drink. He didn't have a job and wasn’t interested in getting one.
He was so disconnected and distant.
In June 2013, he was invited to go fly fishing with the group at Potomac Highlands Wounded Warrior Outreach. When he came home, I noticed a small difference in him; but it was still the same routine.
Then he got a call one day about a bear hunt. He attended the hunt; and even though he didn’t get a bear, all he talked about was how much he felt accepted into the group. Other veterans who were on the hunt continued to call and speak with him.
In February of 2014, he when back to work. He is working 50-60 hours a week and has never been happier. He has never touched a drop of alcohol since he went back to work.
We have our wonderful lives back. We take vacations and are happily married again.
I will be forever indebted to the Potomac Highlands Wounded Warriors Outreach.
You gave me back my husband and my family. Thank You so much for everything you are doing.
You are making a Difference!
